Bring Job Journey to your community

We equip and coach local facilitators to walk alongside participants – growing confidence, resilience, and practical work-readiness that leads to employment pathways.

Built on coaching principles and resilience research. Designed to be replicated by partners.

Unemployment is not only about jobs –  it’s also about job readiness

South Africa’s unemployment crisis is complex. Many people face barriers such as limited work experience, low confidence, and a lack of support to access and sustain meaningful work.

Built on What Helps People Thrive

Job Journey is grounded in coaching practice and resilience research, including Ann Masten’s concept of Ordinary Magic – the idea that lasting change happens when everyday systems of support are strengthened.

At its core, Job Journey recognises that people thrive not through one-off interventions, but through consistent relationships, supportive coaching, and practical tools that are embedded in community.

Participants are supported through three connected layers:

Participants → Relationships → Coaching, Support & Practical Tools

1. Relationships Come First

Trusted and trained facilitators walk alongside participants, creating safety, accountability, and a sense of belonging. These relationships provide the foundation for growth, learning, and change.

2. Coaching Happens at Multiple Levels

Coaching is central to the Job Journey model.  We coach and support facilitators, who in turn coach participants.

This layered approach:

  • builds local capacity
  • strengthens consistency and quality
  • ensures the model can be sustained and replicated through partners
3. Practical Tools are Embedded, Not Isolated

Within these supportive relationships, facilitators guide participants through core work-readiness tools:

  • building a strong CV
  • understanding workplace expectations
  • communicating professionally
  • preparing for interviews and job searches

Skills are learned in context, supported by reflection, practice, and encouragement.

How change happens
Sustainable employment happens when:

  • everyday systems of support are strengthened, and
  • practical skills are paired with confidence, resilience, and ongoing encouragement.

This is Ordinary Magic in action — simple, relational, and powerful.

Job Journey Stories

Before Job Journey, my life was stressful, and I felt completely hopeless. After Job Journey, everything changed: it gave me direction, purpose, and a brighter future. I’m so grateful and now want to help others find that same hope.

The programme was exactly what I was looking for to create space for the Sparks to engage with their new roles as employees. … They’re feeling more confident and prepared for this adventure.

Janine | Sparks Cohort

Classes have been interesting, participants engaging. We look forward to receiving the new training manual and associated training information.
